PASSPORT Information

 Passports Requirements:

  • Documentary evidence of Kenya Citizenship i.e. Naturalisation, Registration, and Birth Certificates & ID/Card original and copies.
  • Photographs of the applicant taken full face, without head-scuff or wigs. The photographs must have been taken within the last six months of the date of passport application.Photographs may be black and white or coloured and must not be mounted. The size of the photographs must 2 by 1½ inches, machine photos are not acceptable. Photograph Guidelines
  • In case of married woman-documentary evidence of marriage e.g. Sworn Affidavit, marriage certificate.
  • In case of children /people under the age of 21 years of age, written Consent from Father or legal guardian unless one is a member of the Armed forces.
  • The Application must be recommended in section '6' by a citizen of Kenya such as Minister of religion, a Minister or Legal Practitioner, an established Civil Servant or Bank Official personally acquainted with the applicant, but not by immediate relatives. 
  • Applicant must be Bona Fide Kenya citizen.

Applicants are adviced to obtain new passports valid for 10 Years.No passports shall be renewed after the five year expiry period.

As always, you may apply for a new passport 6 months before expiry.

Similarly anyone who wishes to do a name change either through marriage, divorce or deed poll should also apply for a new passport at the Mission. 

 Passports no longer renewed (March 2009) Please note that five-year passports are no longer being renewed.Passports which expire after five years need to be replaced with a new ten-year passport.


Important Notices

  • citizenship
    This is to inform that the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act, 2011 which implements Chapter 3 of the Constitution (Citizenship), commenced on 30/08/2011.Under the Act;
  1. Aperson born of a Kenyan parentage irrespective of the place of birth automatically becomes a citizen by birth
  2. The Constitution confers automatic recognition of the persons holding citizenship of other countries as citizens of Kenya by birth so long as they are able to prove parentage through production of evidence ie parents; Kenya National Identification card or  passport
  3. Kenyan citizens by birth who ceased to be citizens of Kenya by voluntarily acquiring citizenship of other countries in accordance with the repealed Constitution may regain their Kenyan citizenship UPON APPLICATION in the prescibed manner (application form may be down loaded from this website)
  4. Aperson who enjoyed dual citizenship but who by virtue of the repealed Constitution renounced or lost their Kenyan citizenship upon attainment of the age of twenty three (23) years would automatically be deemed to be a citizen by birth.
